MARIA KOROVATSKAYA 

 

Maria Korovatskaya, a great soprano singer, was born in Siberia on the 02th of February, 1992, and at a young age she already developed a great passion for music. As a seven-year-old child she took her first piano and singing lessons at a music school in Surgut that she attended over the next seven years with great enthusiasm.

 

Then, she deepened her skills and knowledge at the Center for Arts for Gifted Children of the North, a music boarding school in Khanty-Mansiysk in the class of Prof. N.B. Gerasimova, a recognized singer of the Russian Federation. After that she decided to go to Switzerland to continue her studies.  

 

Having finished her preliminary studies at the Music Academy in Basel, she began her Bachelor studies in 2013 at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences in the class of Hans-Jürg Rickenbacher. She also completed various master classes with Marina Shaguch and Svetlana Ignatovich and others.

 

Maria Korovatskaya began to sing as a young singer very early and sang as a soloist with different orchestras such as the Youth Philharmonic of Central Switzerland under the direction of Jürg Wyttenbach in the frame of the Lucerne Festival 2015 and the Young Symphonic Orchestra in Basel. During her education she won various competitions and scholarships: the 1st prize of the Swiss Youth Music Competition 2013, the 1st prize of the International Competition "Transfiguration" in St. Petersburg 2012, the 3rd place as well as a special prize for the best interpretation of the work Kirchberee by Gavrilin at the International Youth Competition "W. Gavrilin" in the Russian town of Vologda in 2010.

 

In 2015 Maria Korovatskaya was invited to Bayreuth as a scholar holder of the Swiss Richard Wagner Society, where she received a scholarship from the Rita Zimmerman Music Foundation and the Lyra Foundation. And these are just some noteworthy awards in her career so far.

 

In September 2016 Maria Korovatskaya completed her studies at the Lucerne School of Music Pedagogy and continues her second Performance Master studies. She started a mother-child project by teaching small children to make music in a playful way. Here she gets much praise and recognition as well as appreciation from parents and colleagues. In order to challenge herself and to continue her education she teaches singing and giving piano lessons.

 

In July, 2017, she was a participant in the International Congress of Voice Teachers, Stockholm, Sweden.

 

Maria Korovatskaya is a successful freelance singer and performs at concerts, oratorio and opera.
